  • Sylvia and Albert

I love this two part episode and watched it yesterday!  All I can say is how the ending gets me every time into tears..... the other two part episode that does this to me is Albert's morphine addiction.

Yes this is a very powerfully sad  two-part episode that tugs at your heartstring. I enjoy the differences between the books and tvseries, because Laura gets a brother on tv in Albert, but in the books I enjoy seeing more of Laura's relationship with Mary and how she describes the world around her to Mary.

So even though I am a bookpurist I enjoy with how well everyone plays the characters from the books/real-life adapted onto screen and also the characters added to "Little House" were enjoyable and right for the show. I think it's fantastic getting two perspectives of "Little House" from Laura's actual accounts to the t.v. series adaptation.

I love Albert!! He's my absolute favorite character in Little House(not to mention fave actor also, described in my fansite lol) Everything felt so real in these episodes! The one that made me cry the most was when Albert was gonna die(and the reason I say "was" is because I believe he didn't literally die in the show), so I'm gonna say he lived on and became the best doctor!! Plus, even if it was a mistake, in the morphine episode they said that Albert came back ten years later, and they had a new doctor in town.  So Albert Lives!! haha

I'm speechless, everyone in little house esp Albert acted so well! :D

justalong -- Remember, Albert's morphine addiction episode took place about a year before his "curtain call".  He was getting ready to go to medical school when he found out about his incurable illness.  Sorry if I burst your bubble.  I thought Albert was a great addition to the series, too.

Pppfffftttt!!!! Sorry to be a downer.....the morphine addiction episode and the Albert and Sylvia two-parter are my top LEAST favorite episodes....I won't even watch them when they are on. Albert is a whiner....and both of those storylines are dismal to watch. Frown

Albert so takes me by surprise when he has his morphine addiction........ in all of the other episodes he plays in I would not have even guessed that he would do such a thing..... but, he does!  The two parter shows how controlling this drug of this type can be and how it just "takes" over your life and everything else is down on the list.  That is why this episode is very powerful to me.  Yes, I too have a couple of episodes that I could be okay without watching cause they are not really my fav's...... like the two part episode of "he was only twelve"  That one I could probably turn off.

Morphine addiction episodes are difficult to watch but ML was very passionate about sending a very powerful message, to teenagers and young viewers across U.S. and may be around the world.

These two part episodes are still very relevant today.

He had zero tolerance policy in his own household, eventhough one of his kids was involved with abuse and car crash.

i agree with you natasha..both these episodes are my least favorites (along with he was only twelve) and i never watch them when they're on...but psa is right..ml liked to include controversial topics of the day into all his scripts....

I have no problem with controversial topics....just don't care for those episodes....they are definately well-acted and are still relevant today....but just not for me. I agree about "He Was Only Twelve"....I skip that one, too!
