What can I say about this show but that it is absolutely amazing? Even though it is romantic, a man I know loves it for its great lessons and the wisdom that constantly comes from the main character preacher guy's mouth. It's hard to believe there is a movie this honest and full of integrity among the trashpile of rubble posing as movies these days. Thank God for the director Michael Landon Jr. who gave this to us along with the other movies in the series and Hallmark Movie Channel.
One of my favorite things about this show is its humor. I laughed like crazy at the part where Marty was taking a bath and Clark barged in. Clark was so startled he stumbled, burned his hand on the stove, hit his head and passed out. One thing I don't like about the show is its tendency to be unbelievable at times. In an era when women were used to hard work and hard times, how is it that Marty stayed in bed for days doing nothing but grieving for her husband? Death was a common thing in the pioneer days and they would have known how perilous a trip across the west would be. In real life she would have been somewhat prepared for the worst and would have helped with the many chores of the kind family who took her in. Also, why would a pregnant Marty stay outside in a snowstorm just to hold a horse? I know she was dealing with grief but wouldn't she have at least taken the horse to the barn before she caught her death? Despite that, the movie is wholesome, sweet, interesting and worth watching. Hallmark recently had a movie marathon of the Love's series with a new show Love's Unfolding Dream.
